Skype is a way to call other people using your computer. They provide a free service that we use, allowing you to place phone calls to landlines, cell phones, and other computers. All you need is a headset that you can plug into your computer. From there, Skype is a free download away.

Since our language lessons are over the phone, you can guess that we spend a lot of time talking all around the world. All those long distance charges would get really expensive! They'd be expensive for us and the students. If both parties have Skype however, the calls are totally free. That means that a teacher in Costa Rica could spend an hour on the phone with someone in New York City, and neither party would have to pay a cent for the call!

This part couldn't be easier. You need two things. First, you need to download Skype . Secondly, you need to get a headset to plug into your computer. These usually cost between $10-30 depending on the quality. You can buy them at any office supply store, or even off of the Skype website.
